Why do we say "bless you or God bless you" when you sneeze, but in spanish you say "salud"? +Poll?

ok well we say God bless you/bless you………..in spanish it means "Dios the bendiga"……..but in spanish when someone sneezes they say "salud" which means "Health"…….so it’s like someone sneezes and instead of bless you, you say health……which doesn’t really make any sense….
Poll: how many languages do you speak?
well, in spanish, if they sneeze multiple times (usually 3) we say "salud" "dinero" y "amor"
not sure why we say it in english,
in french, you say "a tes souhaits" - to your wishes
i speak spanish, english and french.

because when you sneeze your heart stops momentarily and people just say god bless you like good thing it started beating again or they hope it will and i guess thats where health comes from.
