We are commited to improve the health of all Floridians! – is that right?
What is really confusing me is the proper word for committed in this sentence, would it be comprometer or cometer???? Or simply prometer?

Comprometidos is correct, but the preposition "por" is wrong – it would mean "for the sake of" or "because of", not "of". The right one is "de".

Sounds to me like the Spanish kids with Spanish-speaking parents but born and raised in the States use. Like they translate "for all Floridians" into "por todos los floridianos" forgetting that for can also be translated as "para". As a native speaker I’d say something more like "Nos comprometemos a mejorar la salud de todos los habitantes de la Florida" but that’s just me
