Teleprompter Training Tip #26: Don’t Rock
11.February, 2010
People often rock from side to side or shift foot positions when standing. Again, this is perfectly normal reaction, but it’s undesirable in a production environment.
Movements like this make you look uneasy which if you’re swaying from side to side, you probably are.
It’s a bit like the eye contact and body movement discussed earlier on. Animated gestures in a production are fine as part of our communication is expressed with hand movements. Awkward looking swaying or shuffling aren’t.
As you get to start of the take, spend a few moments warming up. Stretches, bends, jumps. Anything to shake off your fatigue. The goal is to be both mentally and physically alert.
If you still rock or sway, the producer can provide you with a foot rest (to rest one foot on), or anchor you in your chair in some fashion.
When you are ready to bring your presentations in-house, use professional teleprompter software . . . it will make a huge difference to the success of your production.
Business to Business Checks
09.February, 2010
In the ancient days of Rome a check was written in the form of a letter to the seller stating that there were funds enough to pay for goods or services up a certain amount. These can perhaps be considered the very first business checks. The letter contained the name of the business which was to receive the funds and the name of the person ordering the payment. There was also a date and a signature.
The business checks today are no longer long letters from the bank but standard check forms. Some of these check forms are long to make it quick to identify them as business checks. They often come three in a binder and authoritative in their appearance.
Network Marketing Junkie
23.January, 2010
Every once in a while, you’ll have someone sign up and almost seem to think “ok I signed up, where is my bonus check?” For some reason, they expect someone else to build their business for them, or for the business to just build itself, again as if by magic. This is why it’s important to set realistic expectations for your network marketing business prospects, even before they sign up.
A few years ago, I knew a guy who worked multiple network marketing opportunities. He lucked out and sponsored a genuine “heavy hitter” into one of them. Then he just sat back and expected to get rich, while spending all his time working on new deals that came out.
