When you compare hybrid cars today, you have to decide what category of motor vehicle you’re comparing:
Hybrid SUVs are in their own category, of course, with luxury hybrid cars and smaller hybrids in their own categories as well.
Let’s compare a couple of the popular luxury hybrids:
The Lexus line of hybrids comes to mind, right off the bat. But the Fisker Karma beats Lexus and even Mercedes for the sport luxury crown. It goes over 130 mph and accelerates to 60 mph in just six seconds.
…But you need big bucks for this 403 hp marvel of engineering. The Lexus hybrid is cheap in comparison.
The mid-range hybrids are best represented by the Nissan Altimas and such. But the Toyota Camry has always been up there too.
Comparing the smaller hybrids, you can’t ignore the Toyota Prius. It has been dominating the small hybrid market since day one, followed closely by the Honda line of hybrids.
